Local Offer

Every council must have a “local offer”. This is the term for the support they provide for young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

A local offer is a wider range of information about the support that children with SEND and their families can expect to find in their local area. This should spread across education, health and social care, and go up to age 25.

The aim of the local offer is to make services more responsive to local needs and improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND from birth to 25 years. It will not just be a list of services, but also guidance on locally specific information about SEND in your local area.

Each Local Authority has a resonsibility for producing this, so once you know which Local Authority covers where you live, you can then investigate your local offer, which should be found on their website - Every local authority is required to publish and keep their local offer information up to date.
